Domestic Violence Survivor Breaks the Cycle and Gets U-Visa after Many Years of Abuse

She met her former partner several years ago at a dance. Four years later, just after their second child was born, he hit her for the first time. Like many other victims, She was immersed in a domestic violence cycle where she was abused physically and emotionally. His threats to hurt her and her daughter kept her from speaking out.

One day her daughter called the police when she found him kicking and hitting her mom with rage. The abuser was arrested and released a few days later. But he moved out of their house.

Mil Mujeres was able to help her and her daughter. She is now thankful for her work permit and excited to enjoy time with her children without fear of being deported.
